My Day with Mozenator

Today was the day I got to finally meet a H!P fan in the NYC area. He goes by Mozenator online and we had a great time together. I'll try to tell the story as best I can.

We met at Grand Central at 10:40am. Introduced myself and then we went off to the bookoff to look around. He told me about some other JPOP artists that he likes. We didn't buy anything there, so we went to Kinokuniya next. He did not know about this place so I showed him where it was and we went in. Once we got in, he saw the magazines and went right to them. He tells me he is a "magazine whore", i'll admit I am kind of one myself. We went upstairs and looked at more CD's. He told me a little bit about AKB48, and that he went to the free concert last weekend. He showed me some of his favorite members. He was amazed at the store nonetheless. Then we went to Asahiya and again went straight to the magazines, this place keeps current on magazine titles so I go here to get them. I bought 4 of them ranging from video games to technology. But I have some bad news about Asahiya, i'm sorry to say that they are closing the New York location due to "certain circumstances". Apparently I overlooked the notice at the front door and found out after checking out. I was like "WTF, now where will I get current Japanese magazines?" They will close on October 31st. We were both in awe about it, he said he will go back again in a couple weeks before they close and get some goods. I got my magazines, he got UTB and C-ute's new single which I happened to show him.

After all that, we left to have lunch and then went into Dainobu to get Japanese Chocolate and snacks. I got Chocolate whereas he bought Pocky. Just like the other 2 places, he never knew this place existed and he was happy to know that it was there. Then it was time for him to go to work, we only were together for about 3 hours, short but it was great being with another H!P fan who thinks alike and talks alike too. Maybe we will meet again the next time I go to New York.

I felt happy today, and that is a good thing.

You said that you don't know where you can get current Japanese magazines in NYC. Well, in manhattan across the street from Bryant Park and the Central Library, there is a Kinokuniya. Anwell, there's also a Book-Off, but that doesn't have current mags.

And as a fellow H!P fan in NY (though I'm not at the moment), I have to say I love your blog!

I know about Kino, but they sometimes don't have magazines that are current based on the times I have gone there, although some magazines are current.

I'll figure it out the next time i'm there. And thank you for liking my blog too!
